We are so excited that your child (children) will be
a part of this fun and exciting time and ministry! Our
goal is to provide a safe learning environment for your
children ages 4 through the 5th grade. We have a fun
faith-based curriculum taught by trained volunteer leaders
and helpers.
Thank you for sharing your children with us!
Our Goal: To guide the children of All
Saints to know and love
Jesus Christ and to make him
known by words and
deeds of
love, truth and service.
Our Vision: To create a happy and
inviting fellowship for the
children of All Saints. This includes:
Teaching the children how to honor and love God,
to follow Jesus Christ, and to proclaim his goodness.
Encouraging a child’s faith through
scripture,
prayer and song.
Teaching and preparing the children of All Saints
to understand and to participate in the worship service.
Identifying mission outreaches so the children can
learn the importance of caring for others and reaching
out to those in need.
How Does Children’s Church Work at All Saints?
Our children start out in “big church”
with their parents and are dismissed to Children’s
Church after a time of singing and worship. Our Children's Church meets in the hallways and Media Center of Creekside, which is located down the hall from the Infants & Toddlers and Preschool Rooms.
Preschool
Our Preschool class follows the David C. Cook Anglican Edition curriculum. Preschoolers follow along with the lectionary and church calendar. They hear God's word, play games, and do creative activities. In addition, to materials in class, kids are sent home with take-home sheets for discussion with family.
Godly Play (K - 2nd Grade) We use the Godly Play structure for Children's Church. Godly Play teaches children the art of using religious language - parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action - helping them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives.
Godly Play provides a time and a space for children to engage with God and with the story of God’s people in the bible. A Godly Play session includes a time to gather the circle and get ready, a time to listen to a story, a time of wondering, a time for children to respond to the story through their choice of art materials, and a time for a feast. Answers or meanings are not imposed by a teacher. Instead, children are encouraged to wonder about what the story means, in the circle and through their own art. The Godly Play classroom is staffed by at least two adults, a storyteller and an assistant called a doorkeeper. Often, there is a third adult, a Response Time Leader, who oversees the children in their crafts.
Storykeepers (3rd - 5th Grade)
The StoryKeepers class, for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, seeks to meet older elementary school kids in a way that affirms their faith and addresses real life issues they may be experiencing. Further, as the name suggests, the vision for StoryKeepers is to help kids own their faith as well as place their stories within the narrative of God. Also, StoryKeepers seeks to prepare kids for the confirmation process - which can happen at All Saints at age 12.
