As followers of Jesus Christ, we at All Saints Church seek to be people who… grow together in mutual love and service….
Grow – it’s what we’re to do as followers of Christ. Scripture is replete with metaphors likening our spiritual journey to the growth of vegetation, trees, and fruits. Our Lord teaches, “As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.” And “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!” declares 2 Peter 3:18.
Together – One of the truest, most beautiful gifts of the Christian faith is the deeply-rooted knowledge that we are created to grow together through active relationships characterized by true love and mutual service. When God created mankind in his image, he created them “male and female, and he blessed them.” Family! When he recreated humanity in Christ, he created the Church, his family! In both cases, we are touching on the profound truth that God himself lives in eternal relationship – Father, Son and Spirit. So it is not surprising when it comes to spiritual growth, God says, “Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by that which every joint supplies, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love thorough the proper working of each part.” (Ephesians 4: 15-16).
