What is Soaking Prayer? How's it done?
It's very simple--you sit quietly and open your heart to the presence and love of God. Some meditative music will be playing softly in the background. Prayer Team members will circulate among those soaking and very quietly pray with them. If you have a particular prayer request, please write it on a card and put the card in your lap so that team members can lift it to the Lord when they pray over you.
When is Soaking Prayer offered at All Saints?
We offer opportunities for soaking prayer throughout the year at Evenings of Prayer, and also at significant moments in the Church Calendar: in Advent, on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Pentecost Sunday, etc.
Is Soaking Prayer in the Bible?
While the term Soaking Prayer isn't, the idea of resting in God's presence, of waiting silently on Him, and of soaking in the love and power of the Spirit certainly is. Check out these passages: Psalm 23:1-3, 37:7, 62:1-8; 131:2; Matthew 11:28-30; Luke 10:38-42, 11:13; Isaiah 40:29-31; Hebrews 4:9-11.
How do I prepare for soaking? Is there something I need to know or to do?
Come with an expectant heart. Be ready to offer your burdens the Lord and to rest, to be still and know the God who indwells you and loves you. Be ready to receive the Spirit.
Is there anything weird about Soaking? Will it be embarrassing in any way?
Absolutely not. We will not put anyone on the spot. Also, any prayer requests you share with us will be held in the strictest confidence.
What if I have more questions?
